Like the rest of you, I have gotten a bit lax about updating. Here's a quick one:
51%'s Family Visit - They arrived on Thursday and are staying for a week. It is 51%'s Dad, sister, and our niece and nephew (10 and 12). We all get along great, although I have more fun with them one on one vs the whole pack. The kids are great, and it is likely their one big get-away for the summer, so you want them to have a great time. 51% and I have a much different "parenting" style, however, than his sister and Dad do. They tend to micro-manage the kids. And 51%'s Dad has yet to grasp the true definition of vacation. By today, day three, he is relaxing a bit more. Right now I am working, blogging, and 51% took the kids and Jake for a hike in the wild. His sister took off for some alone time and shopping in nearby Kent, and his Dad is at home watching baseball. We'll all re-convene tonight for a big dinner: caprese with fresh mozz and tomatoes and basil from the garden, then filets on the grill with corn on the cob, baked potatoes with fresh chives, and green beans in garlic, onion and bacon. Chocolate mousse cake for dessert. And a bottle of champagne for me and bottles of wine for 51% and his sister. Tomorrow we are heading to Greenwich and Westport for a bit of shopping, and then they are going into the city with us on Monday. So far so good.
Casino Royale - Last night after dinner (Fried Chicken out on the deck), we watched Casino Royale. It was a good Bond flick - a little more romantic than most - but it gave us a chance to see a lot of the new Bond: Daniel Craig. Grrr. This guy is sexy. great eyes, great ass, just plain hot! Particularly loved the scene when he was stripped nekkid and tied to a seatless chair for, uh, torture in this case...
They should have had him play Ryan's dad on The OC...
