Hat tip to Curbed, where I first saw this. This is one for the "Must Have" category.
London creative consultancy Schulze and Webb has created an incredible, thought provoking, urban-architecture-junkie loving map of Manhattan. Created in two parts, it features a radical approach to thinking about maps. It starts in a 3D form, from the initial vantage point of the user (in this case 3rd Ave and 7th Street, or 3rd Ave and 35th Street) - as all of the buildings around you are indeed in 3D as you stand somewhere looking at a map. As you move further uptown (or downtown) - the map morphs into a plan view - showing the user what is really there, but that can't be seen from their current vantage point.
I may have lost you on that description, so I will show you the map looking uptown. You can see both maps here and -more importantly- order giant copies for yourself (or for me if you like!)
